Workshop scrunitises enforcement of competition law

The workshop, reviewing “five-year implementation of the competitionlaw”, is a forum for managers and business sector to share theoreticaland practical issues to increase the enforcement of the law.

More than 40 violations of competition regulations have beeninvestigated and handled over the last five years, the workshop heard.

According to Deputy Minister of Industry and TradeLe Danh Vinh, the investigation and handling of such cases had strictlyfollowed the law, raising businesses’ awareness of basic marketprinciples and ensuring consumers’ rights.

Hespoke highly of the State management agencies’ efforts to uphold theprinciples of the socialist-oriented market economy which, he said, hasbrought about practical benefits to businesses and people.

Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Legal Department NguyenSinh Nhat Tan also acknowledged the law’s contributions to makingeffective management policies and administrative orders./.

Under a draft to amend and supplement the Government's Decree 125/2020/ND-CP on administrative sanctions for violations of tax and invoice regulations, the Ministry of Finance has proposed classifying the failure to issue invoices into five different levels. Infraction levels will correspond to fines of 1 million VND to 80 million VND, depending on the nature and number of invoicing violations.
