The event was held bythe Forest Management Department of the province, Greenviet BiodiversityConservation Centre and Fauna & Flora International (FFI).
Reports from scientists,administrators and local authorities were delivered at the workshop, proposingsolutions to protect the wild animal in the locality.
Vietnam is home tobetween 1,500 to 2,000 primates of this kind in forests across Quang Nam,Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Kon Tum and Gia Lai provinces. It is included in theInternational Union for Conservation of Nature red list as one of the world’s25 most endangered primates.
In 2016, a surveyconducted by the FFI found Kon Plong district is home to 500 of the animals.-VNA

The Son Tra Peninsula, about 10km in the northeast of downtown Da Nang city, is home to about 300-400 red shanked douc langurs, a rare species deemed the "Queen of Primates".
