Hanoi (VNA) - Workshop on Thai ethnic hand embroidery, an heirloomtechnique mastered by Thai ethnic artisans in Quy Chau disrtict, the centralprovince of Nghe An, will be held on July 1.

The workshop will be conducted by master weaver Sam Thi Tinh, a Thai ethnicwoman who was born in Hoa Tien traditional brocade village in Quy Chau.

She grew up with her grand-mother, mother and other Thai women who were expertartisans. She now lives in Hanoi to sustain and develop the traditionalcraftsmanship for Hoa Tien Brocade Cooperative led by her mom since itsfoundation in 2010.

During the workshop, attendees will learn how to embroider traditional Thaipatterns on their textiles and learn about the meaning of the patterns such asmythical animals (dragon, phoenix), wild animals (elephant, horse, deer,turtle, tiger), plants, flowers and objects of daily life.

The workshop, which will take place from 2pm to 6pm at No. 203, 2nd floor,Apartment Building CT5A, Me Tri Thuong, Nam Tu Liem district, will betranslated into English and French.

It costs participants 500,000 VND (25 USD), including necessary materials usedin the workshop.-VNA
