Yen Bai (VNA) – The northern mountainous province of Yen Bai has completed their housing improvement scheme aimed at eliminating makeshift and dilapidated homes across ൲the locality.
As of June 13, the province had fully delivered on its 2025 plan to support the renovation or reconstruction of 2,208 homes. Of these, 1,815 were newly built and 393 were repaired. The project received total funding of approximately 120.69 billion VND (approximately 4.74 million USD) from both the State budget and social contributions.
The initiative prioritised households with meritorious service to the nation, including relatives of war martyrs (272 homes), as well as poor and near-poor households (1,936 homes). Over 91.8 billion VND, accounting for 76.1% of the total funding needs, has already been disbursed to localities.
Provincial leaders emphasised that eradicating substandard houses is not only a political commitment but also a moral responsibility, aiming to ensure stable and secure living conditions for disadvantaged residents.
Since 2016, Yen Bai has supported the construction of more than 16,000 homes, including nearly 2,400 for households with meritorious service to the nation and over 13,600 for poor and near-poor households.
This effort has helped reduce the province’s poverty rate from 32.21% in 2016 to 5.86% in 2024./.
Originating from a deeply humanitarian policy of the Party and the State, the programme to do away with makeshift and dilapidated houses is gradually turning the dream of stable housing and livelihoods into reality for hundreds of thousands of poor citizens.
As of May 7, 2025, 15 localities across the country have successfully eliminated temporary and dilapidated houses. By May 11, 2025, nearly 209,000 such houses have been removed nationwide, with over 111,000 completed and handed over to families, and more than 98,000 new houses under construction.
Currently, 20 Vietnamese citizens remain in Iran, including embassy staff and personnel. All are safe, mentally stable, and in regular contact with the embassy.
