Youth to set sail on Asian exchange tour

Vietnam will send a 29-member delegation to the 39th Southeast Asian Youth Programme from October 10 to December 14.

TheJapanese ship Fuji Maru will transport 400 youth from 10 ASEANcountries and Japan on a cruise through six countries including Vietnam,Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei and Japan. The voyage will beginfrom Japan.

The ship will make its first stop when it docks at HCM City's Sai Gon Port on November 9.

Vietnameserepresentatives will then introduce the country's people and culture,and discuss the sea and island sovereignty of Vietnam – a major topic ofthe year – in the cultural exchange event.

Participants will also discuss the environment, safety, food and nutrition, HIV-AIDS and the leadership of young people.

In each country, they will take home-stays, and visits will incorporate local lifestyle and culture.

Thetwo-month journey, first organised by the Japanese government and ASEANin 1974, is an annual programme to boost the solidarity and friendshipbetween youngsters in the ASEAN and Japan.

Vietnam joined the SSAYP in 1996 and the event has become an important and exciting event for youths.-VNA

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
