Jakarta (VNA) - Indonesia has a big opportunity to develop an artificial intelligence (AI) and semiconductor ecosystem among the ASEAN countries, according to the country’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto.

Speaking at a knowledge-sharing and networking forum themed "Shaping The Future Economy: AI & Semiconductor" on September 29, he said that AI and semiconductors are the core components of Indonesia's digital economy, and can become its strategic tools to compete with other ASEAN countries such as Singapore and Malaysia.

Therefore, AI and semiconductors entered the National Digital Economy Framework in 2023, he shared.

The government has issued and implemented policies to🐬 support💯 the rapid development of digital technology in various industry sectors, Hartarto said, adding that the country's potential in AI and semiconductor is supported by the demographic bonus./.
