Hanoi (VNA) –
Chairman of the 14th National Assembly (NA) Vuong Dinh Hue, who isalso head of the National Election Council, chaired a national teleconferenceon May 18 to review preparations for the coming elections.

The top legislator said the electionsof deputies to the 15th NA and all-level People’s Councils for the2021 - 2026 tenure are a significant political event of the country, and thatall the preparations have basically been completed and ready for the electionday, May 23.

Even the localities facingthe most disadvantages at present like northern Bac Giang and Bac Ninhprovinces and central Da Nang city, which are witnessing complex COVID-19developments, have also shown their determination to organise the elections onschedule and successfully, he said, describing that as a very strong politicalresolve.

With regard to COVID-19prevention and control, Hue said all the personnel involved in the electionpreparations have undergone testing, and they are receiving vaccinations,especially in high-risk areas. The inoculations have also been provided for thecandidates.

He asked for flexibility inarranging polling stations in the places with social distancing imposed,concentrated quarantine sites, and locked-down areas.

The NA leader also agreedwith some localities’ proposal on holding early voting in the areas with a complicatedCOVID-19 situation, stressing the determination that no localities orconstituencies have to hold voting behind schedule./.
