Ancient treetrunk coffin unearthed in Ha Tinh province

A treetrunk coffin dating back to the Le Dynasty (15th century) was discovered by workers at an irrigation site in Thinh Loc commune, Loc Ha district, the central province of Ha Tinh.

HaTinh (VNA) – A treetrunk coffin dating back to the Le Dynasty (15thcentury) was discovered by workers at an irrigation site in Thinh Loc commune,Loc Ha district, the central province of Ha Tinh, director of the provincialmuseum Nguyen Tri Son said on July 10.

The coffin, measuring 2.1m in length and 60cm in width, was found at a depth of2m with three ancient ceramic vases.

The exhibits are being brought to the local museum for further study andexhibition.

Earlier, two ancient tombs with a number of ceramic objects were also unearthedin Thinh Loc commune.

Experts also found many treetrunk coffins in other localities like Can Loc, CamXuyen and Loc Ha districts.-VNA
