Prague (VNA) - The Indonesian Embassy in the Czech Republic hosted ASEAN Day in Prague on August 7, marking the 58th founding anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Addressing the event, Indonesian Ambassador Rina P. Soemarno, who currently serves as Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Prague, emphasised the spirit of regional solidarity and cooperation, and the importance of enhancing ASEAN–Czech Republic relations.

From the very beginning, the bloc’s goal has been to pursue peace and prosperity while reaching out to the world. In that spirit, ASEAN has remained steadfast in preserving regional peace by promoting mutual understanding and maintaining unity, the core principles that form its foundation, she affirmed.

More than just a celebration, the event carried strong cultural diplomacy significance, helping to raise awareness among the Czech public and business community about the potential for cooperation with ASEAN countries.

Along with attractive art performances, typical dishes of ASEAN member states were also served at the event.

Czech Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Eduard Hulicius stated that although the ASEAN–Czech Republic relations are currently developing fruitfully, there remains great potential for further development, especially in the areas of economy, culture, and people-to-people connectivity.

The Czech Republic has deep🎶 ties with several ASEAN countries, such as Vietnam, and it is committed to strengthening relations with all ASEAN member states, he affirmed./.
