ASIAD 2018: wushu brings Vietnam one silver, one bronze on Aug.21

Vietnamese wushu artists bagged two more medals on August 21, the third official competition day of the ongoing 2018 Asian Games (ASIAD 18) in Indonesia, raising the country’s total medals to six.

Jakarta (VNA) – Vietnamese wushu artists bagged two moremedals on August 21, the third official competition day of the ongoing 2018Asian Games (ASIAD 18) in Indonesia, raising the country’s total medals to six.

Wushu martial artist Pham Quoc Khanh seized the second silver medal forthe country in men’s nanquan and nangun with 9.71 points.

Meanwhile, Duong Thuy Vi brought home another bronze medal with a totalscore of 19.40 in women’s jianshu and qiangshu.

On August 20, weight-lifter Thach Kim Tuan bagged the first silver forVietnam in the men’s 56kg event, while swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang won bronze inthe men’s 800m freestyle event.

On the first day of competition on August 19, Vietnamese Taekwondoathletes and shooters secured two bronze medals for the country in the men’steam poomsae event and the 10-m air pistol mixed event.

The ASIAD 2018 opened in Jakarta on August 18 evening with the theme“Energy of Asia.”

Vietnam’s sports delegation to the ASIAD consists of 532 members,including 352 athletes. It aims to snatch at least three gold medals, with atleast one in an Olympic sports category.-VNA
