Campaign “World Cleanup Day 2020” was launched in Hanoi on October 17 by Let's Do It! Hanoi organisation, aiming at raising the public awareness of and calling for the community to join actions towards the capital city’s green environment.

Hanoi (VNA) - Campaign “World Cleanup Day 2020” was launched inHanoi on October 17 by Let's Do It! Hanoi organisation, aiming at raising thepublic awareness of and calling for the community to join actions towards thecapital city’s green environment.

The campaign took place at three locations in Hanoi namely Pham Hung and NguyenTrai streets and Duong Lieu commune of Hoai Duc district, drawing theparticipation of about 1,500 people. 

Through its activities, the event contributed to spreading messages ofprotecting the environment while proposing measures to reduce waste, creatingmore green spaces.

The World Cleanup Day was initiated by the Let’s Do It World Organisation withthe aim of mobilising 5 percent of the world population to clean up trash inone day.
 
For two consecutive years 2018 and 2019, only in Hanoi, the campaign"World Cleanup Day” attracted 2,151 participants, 900,000 people knewabout its message and nearly 10 tonnes of garbage were collected./.

🌳 Vietnam contributes to international court's advisory opinion on climate change

As a key member of the core group of 18 countries, initiated by Vanuatu, Vietnam engaged in advocating for the UN General Assembly’s Resolution N.77/276, requesting for the ICJ’s advisory opinion. Following the resolution's adoption, Vietnam fully participated in all procedural steps for the first time, from submitting written proposals to presenting directly at the court’s hearings.

ꦗ Hanoi to roll out policies supporting green transport transition

Under the plan, from 2025 to 2026, the city will complete mechanisms and policies to support businesses in switching to green vehicles, expand the electric and green-energy bus network, and build charging stations. The targeted proportion of green buses is set at 10% in 2025 and 20–23% in 2026.
