China’s top legislator to pay official visit to Vietnam, attend 80th National Day celebration

Hanoi (VNA) – Zhao Leji, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC), is set to lead a high-ranking delegation of the Chinese Party and State to pay an official visit to Vietnam from August 31 to September 2.
According to a release from the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on August 28, during the trip, Zhao will attend the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day of Vietnam (September 2), and co-chair the first session of the cooperation committee between the Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) and the NPC.
The visit is made at the invitation of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man./.
Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong stressed the need for the legislatures to adopt practical measures to enhance mutual understanding and strengthen friendship between the peoples of Vietnam and China.
This grassroots synergy — powered by digital platforms, complementary industries and cultural affinity — has fueled a robust partnership between the two countries. China has remained Vietnam's largest trading partner for over two decades, while Vietnam is China's top trading partner within ASEAN. Bilateral trade exceeded 260 billion USD in 2024.
The exercise, running from July 21-30, mobilised 140 officers and soldiers from both sides, together with more than 20 vehicles and over 170 pieces of equipment.

According to Decision No. 2346-QD/TW, dated September 15, 2025, the Da Nang Party Committee for the new term consists of 75 members, including 73 re-elected members.
