Beijing (VNA) – Professor Dr. Pan Jin’e, a member of the Academy of Marxism under the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and a Vietnam expert has praised the prospects for the development of Vietnam – China relations.

In an interview with the Vietnam News Agency (VNA)'s resident correspondents in Beijing, Pan recalled General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and President of China Xi Jinping’s statement that the ties have gone beyond the traditional scope of bilateral relations to form a community with a shared future that carries strategic significance. She stressed the four correlations in the Vietnam – China friendship, namely connected mountains and rivers, cultural affinity, shared ideals, and interconnected destinies.

A deep understanding of the ties’ characteristics and principles is important to ensure that the Vietnam – China ties develop along the right course, she stated.

Over the recent past, leaders of the two Parties and States have always recognised the special nature of this bond, cherishing the revolutionary friendship nurtured by President Ho Chi Minh and Chairman Mao Zedong in the 1920s. Their guidance laid down the foundation for the bilateral ties during the revolutionary struggles and the socialist-building process in both countries, making vital contributions to political security, economic development, and the well-being of the two countries' people.

High-level exchanges have been arranged regularly. In August 2024, Party General Secretary To Lam chose China for his first overseas visit after becoming the leader of the Communist Party of Vietnam, while in April 2025, Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping paid a state visit to Vietnam. Both visits produced joint statements to deepen cooperation, accelerate the building of a China – Vietnam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance, and reaffirm the two nations’ close bonds as good neighbours, good friends, good comrades, and good partners.

Reflecting on the 75 years since diplomatic ties were established, Pan said that despite global upheavals, the two Parties and countries have consistently supported each other, jointly safeguarding socialist security, persisting with renewal, and successfully pursuing socialist development models. These efforts not only serve the fundamental interests of both nations but also contribute to peace, stability, and development in the region and the world, while giving impetus to socialism worldwide, she added.

Looking ahead, the Chinese scholar expressed her confidence that the leaders of both countries will continue to grasp the core characteristics and development rules of the relationship, guided by the “six major orientations” outlined in the joint statement: greater political trust, more substantive defence and security cooperation, deeper practical collaboration, stronger social foundations, closer multilateral coordination, and better management and settlement of differences.

♔ Both sides will continue advancing the building of a Vietnam – China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance, contributing wisdom and strength to China’s great rejuvenation process and Vietnam’s new era – the era of the nation’s rise./.
