Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Defence Minister Senior Lieutenant GeneralNguyen Chi Vinh received the heads of delegations to the third FriendshipBorder Exchange programme in Hanoi on August 24.

The deputy minister welcomed the delegations from China, Laos, Cambodia,Thailand and Myanmar to Vietnam for the programme, which he said is an excellentopportunity for the countries to enhance their border diplomacy, contributingto solidarity, friendship, cooperation and development for the happy life ofpeople in border areas.

Vinh asked the delegations to actively participate in the exchange andpropose useful contents for the event’s activities.

The delegates thanked the Vietnamese Defence Ministry for facilitatingtheir attendance at the friendship exchange. They agreed that the eventprovided an occasion for border guard forces of countries share experience inperforming their duty, thus creating a foundation for building and foster soundrelations among them in the spirit of equality, cooperation for mutual benefitsand for peace and stability of the countries’ shared borders.

The third Friendship Border Exchange programme is one of the main activities tomark the 73rd anniversary of Vietnam’s August Revolution andNational Day.

The official event will take place on August 25 in Hanoi, with theparticipation of 17 international guest delegations from the ministries ofdefence, public security and security of China, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand andMyanmar along with representatives from the five countries’ embassies,diplomatic missions, military, defence and security attachés in Hanoi.-VNA
