New Delhi (VNA) – The upcoming visit to India by Deputy PrimeMinister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh aims to seek specific measures to enhancethe Vietnam-India comprehensive strategic partnership, stated VietnameseAmbassador to India Ton Sinh Thanh.

In an interview with a Vietnam News Agency correspondent in New Delhi,Thanh said that the Deputy PM Minh will visit India and attend the ninth DelhiDialogue from July 3-5, which is among activities to mark Vietnam-IndiaFriendship Year 2017.

During his stay, Minh will hold talks with Indian Minister of ExternalAffairs Sushma Swaraj to discuss measures to promote and expand bilateral cooperationin various fields, including politics, security-defence, economy-trade, investment,tourism, science-technology, culture and education, he noted.

The two sides will also discuss regional and international issues ofshared concern.

Following the talks, the two sides will sign an Action Programme toimplement the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

Minh will also meet senior leaders of India as well as local businesscommunity, and attend and deliver a speech at the ninth Delhi Dialogue on July 4-5.

The visit aims to implement the Party’s external policy of deepeninginternational relations, strengthening partnerships, especially with strategicpartners and major powers, while affirming Vietnam’s interest in developing theVietnam-India comprehensive strategic partnership, said Ambassador Thanh.

The diplomat said that Deputy PM Minh’s India visit is among activitiesto mark the 45th anniversary of Vietnam-India diplomatic ties and 25years of establishing the ASEAN-India dialogue partnership, as Vietnam is thecoordinator of ASEAN-India relations for 2015-2018.

Over the past 45 years, Vietnam and India have seen strong progress inties. They set up a strategic partnership in 2007 which was lifted to a comprehensivestrategic partnership in 2016.

The two countries are enjoying flourishing ties, with close cooperationin all fields, stated the ambassador.

Trade between the two countries has boomed recently. Vietnamese carrierVietjet Air will launch a direct route linking Ho Chi Minh City and New Delhi soon,he noted.

In the future, the two sides should further foster their affiliation formore comprehensive development of bilateral ties, he concluded.-VNA
