Hanoi (VNA) – Cabinet members discussed several draft laws in the spirit of building a construc🤪tive government with zero tolerance toward corruption during the first two days of the Government’s monthly meeting, according to Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung.

The minister said at a press conference on August 31 that the Prime Minister asked the new Cabinet members to change their way of thinking about law making in order to ensure feasibility and sensibility, and create a favourable legal corridor for citizens and businesses. The Government leader also stressed the need to translate words into actions, the Minister-Chairman said, adding that a working group establishment by the PM will watch the pace of work of each Cabinet member as well as localities.
The PM requested the Ministry of Planning and Investment to discuss the draft law on amendments and supplements of several articles of the investment and business laws with relevant ministries and associations. Regarding the draft law on supporting small-and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), Minister Dung said while this is a new issue, the Government is determined to promote startups towards the goal of having one million SMEs. On the national socio-economic situation in the past eight months, the Government assessed that despite being hit by a spate of national disasters, the national economy is on the path to recovery, with low inflation and balanced finance.
Of note, the confidence of the people and businesses has been recovered, helping spur economic growth, Minister Dung said, emphasizing that the Government will not adjust targets and is resolved to reach the set targets. Therefore, efforts will be focused on removing difficulties facing production and business activities thus boosting economic growth in the remaining months of the year. During the meeting, which will run through September 1 morning, the PM also urged strong solutions to the effective use public assets, the Minister-Chairman said, adding regulations will be issued soon to tighten the management of public vehicles.-VNA
