Hanoi (VNA) – The capital city of Hanoi hascontinued affirming itself as a leading tourism hub in the north as well as thecountry with the reception of four million international tourists for the firsttime in 2016.

Hanoi is one of the first localities nationwide to establishthe Department of Tourism and launch various kinds of products and servicessuch as the walking space near Hoan Kiem (Sword Lake), Ba Vi ecotourism site,Hanoi emotion programme, craft village tourism, Hanoi memories event, and Hanoitraditional “ao dai” festival.

The city plans to develop the Ba Vi – Suoi Hai tourism site,Son Tay – Ba Vi tourism cluster, and Duong Lam ancient village, as well asdomestic and international tours.

Director of the municipal Department of Tourism Do Dinh Hongsaid the capital is developing high-quality and highly competitive tourismproducts with special focus on culture.

Director General of the Vietnam National Administration ofTourism Nguyen Van Tuan stressed the possibility of connecting tourism of Hanoiwith other northern localities, suggesting their active coordination to attractvisitors, especially international ones.

The tourism sector is defining key tourism sites in thenorth, including Hanoi,Ha Long (Quang Ninh), and Trang An (Ninh Binh).

It will build programmes to connect tours with otherlocalities nationwide and forge connectivity between mangers, travel agencies,and tourist sites to improve services.

Over the past time, Hanoi proactively promoted tourism inkey global tourism markets such as Russia, France, and Japan through closelycooperating with foreign diplomatic representative offices and internationalorganisations in the city, and Vietnamese embassies and international tourismagencies abroad.-VNA
