Hanoi, Seoul eye cooperation expansion

Leaders of Hanoi and Seoul expressed their wish for stronger bilateral cooperation in several aspects as they met on the sidelines of the World Cities Summit, which kicked off in Singapore on July 10.

Singapore (VNA) – Leaders of Hanoi and Seoul expressed their wish for stronger bilateral cooperation in several aspects as they met on the sidelines of the World Cities Summit, which kicked off in Singapore on July 10.

Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung and Seoul Mayor Park Won Soon agreed that the two cities will boost partnership in e-government, information technology, telecommunications and flood control while expanding affiliation in culture and education.

Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung said Hanoi is drawing up a development strategy until 2030 with a vision to 2050 and it hopes the cooperation with Seoul will assist its process of construction and development, especially in environmental protection.

He asked Seoul to continue with its support for Hanoi in developing a modern city, including the development of urban areas along the Red River.

Besides that, Hanoi hoped Seoul to help with the application of technology in administrative procedure reform towards building an integrated city, creating favourable conditions for residents and investors.

In August, Hanoi will send a delegation to Seoul to participate in activities to mark the 20th anniversary of the twinning relations between the two cities.

On his part, Mayor Park Won Soon expressed his pleasure at the close relationship between the two cities, pledging that Seoul will share with Hanoi both successful stories and lessons in its development process.

The Mayor of Seoul noted his wish for more cooperation in the fields of culture, people-to-people exchanges and educaಞtion anﷺd training.-VNA
