HCM City, Belarus seek cooperation in public transport

Belarusian businesses want to cooperate with Saigon Transportation Mechanical Corporation (SAMCO) which specialises in bus manufacturing, to address public transport problems in Ho Chi Minh City, said Deputy Industry Minister of Belarus Aleksandr Ogorodnhik.

HCM City (VNA) – Belarusianbusinesses want to cooperate with Saigon Transportation Mechanical Corporation(SAMCO) which specialises in bus manufacturing, to address public transportproblems in Ho Chi Minh City, said Deputy Industry Minister of BelarusAleksandr Ogorodnhik.

He told Vice Chairman of the HCM City People’s Committee Tran Vinh Tuyen in thecity on October 24 that the cooperation could cover the manufacturing of typesof bus suitable with local transport features.

Belarus has strength in heavy industry,including car and bus manufacturing, the guest said.

He added that many metro lines have been launched in Belarus’s capital city ofMinsk. Therefore, Belarus wants to work with Vietnamese partners, especiallyHCM City, in this field, while working together to develop electric vehicles tobuild a green and modern city.

For his part, Tuyen said HCM City heeds developing bus in order to addresspublic transport issues and plans to replace current buses with modern, qualityand environmentally friendly ones, while launching rapid and quality busroutes.

He agreed with Aleksandr Ogorodnhik’s view that Belarusian businesses cancooperate with SAMCO to produce buses exclusively for HCM City, then othercities and provinces.

The Vietnamese southern metropolis is developing metro line No. 1 linking BenThanh market in District 1 and Suoi Tien Tourist Park in District 9, he said,adding that other metro projects are undertaking land clearance and seekingexperienced investors.

HCM City pledged to create the best possibleconditions for the Belarusian side to examine investment projects in the city,he said.-VNA
