Int’l Conference on Sustainability in Civil Engineering held in Hanoi

Hanoi (VNA) – The second International Conference onSustainability in Civil Engineering was opened at the University of Transportand Communications (UTC) in Hanoi on November 24.

The two-day conference attracts the participation of scientists,experts and scholars from Vietnam and other countries like France, the US,Russia, the UK, Belgium, Greece, Japan, China, Thailand and Indonesia.

In his opening remarks, UTC Rector Nguyen Ngoc Long stressedthe importance of sustainability in civil engineering.

The nature of designing and building sustainable works is tostudy and seek optimal solutions related to materials, engineering andconstruction to make the works not only meet the requirements of short-termuse, but also be able to be adjusted to meet future use requirements, and notcause bad impact on the environment, natural resources and the ecosystem, Longstated.

Nearly 150 quality reports have been sent to and deliveredat the conference. They focus on sustainable development in geotechnicalengineering, water resources, works engineering in river-mouth, coastal andmarine areas, and transport infrastructure planning and development.

UTC is the largest and oldest technical state university intransport field of Vietnam.
