Korean group grants scholarships to poor students in Lam Dong

The Republic of Korea's CJ Group on December 27 granted scholarships to 100 underprivileged students who achieved good results in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong.

Lam Dong (VNA) – The Republic of Korea's CJGroup on December27 granted scholarships to 100underprivileged students who achieved good results in the Central Highlandsprovince of Lam Dong.

The scholarships, worth 400 million VND in total (nearly 17,240 USD), is one of thegroup's long-term educational sponsorship activities, demonstratingits corporate responsibility to the community and society.

These scholarships are given directly to thestudents to help with their tuition and living expenses, the company said in astatement. 

This is the 7th consecutive year that CJ Grouphas given scholarships to students in Lam Dong province. Since 2013, the group has granted more than 700scholarships to poor students from elementary to university levels in thelocality.

CJ Group entered the domestic market in 1998,with the establishment of its representative office in Ho Chi Minh City.

To date, the group has expanded its operation inthe country, specialising in 17 areas, including food and food services, logisticsand retail, infrastructure and IT, entertainment and media.

By the end of 2018, CJ Group had invested about 880million USD in the Vietnamese market./.
