Laos congratulates Vietnam on 80-year achievements
As a close friend and comrade sharing the same revolutionary ideals with Vietnam, the Lao Party, State, and people always follow, share, and take pride in Vietnam’s achievements. These are not only a source of common pride but also great encouragement and an important driving force for the Lao people in their nation building and development process.

Vientiane (VNA) – Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam on August 19-20 received delegations from Lao central agencies and local authorities who came to extend congratulations on Vietnam’s 80th National Day (September 2, 1945 – 2025).
Tam stressed that the people of Vietnam and Laos stood shoulder to shoulder throughout their struggles for national liberation, forging an exceptionally close fighting solidarity – a rare relationship in world history, which has become an invaluable asset and a vital factor for the survival and development of both nations.
The Lao representatives praised Vietnam’s great and comprehensive achievements of historic significance over the past eight decades, particularly since the Doi Moi (renewal) policy was launched in 1986. From a war-torn and impoverished nation, Vietnam has risen to become the world’s 33rd largest economy and one of the fastest-growing globally. The country has increasingly integrated into the international community, facilitated trade and investment, improved living standards, and affirmed its growing role and position on the world stage.

The talks between the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee’s Organisation Commission and its Lao counterpart took place in a warm, sincere, and comradely atmosphere, reflecting the determination of both commissions to further enhance cooperation, share experience, and contribute to consolidating the special Vietnam–Laos ties.
Participants discussed the Vietnamese banks' perspectives on the monetary policy of the Bank of the Lao PDR, the banks' performance, and measures for effectively improving banking operations in the coming time.
The Lao Party, Government, and public security force have always recognised that the achievements and victories of the force during the struggle for national liberation and in the current period of protecting and developing the country are closely linked to the solidarity and valuable assistance of its Vietnamese counterpart.
Defence Minister Gen. Phan Van Giang expressed his hope that collaboration between the Ministry of National Defence of Vietnam and the Maritime Board of Russia will continue to be strengthened on the basis of mutual benefit, in line with international law and the laws of each country.
Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Berris Ekinci affirmed Turkey’s desire to deepen cooperation with Vietnam, noting that since establishing diplomatic ties in 1978, the two countries have maintained effective collaboration in trade, investment, defence industry, culture, and tourism.
The host leader agreed with the Vietnamese diplomat’s proposals to enhance parliamentary cooperation, including promoting the activities of the parliamentary friendship groups and sharing legislative experience, considering them important drivers for bilateral ties.
PM Pham Minh Chinh underscored the importance of solidarity and unanimity between the NA and the Government in performing tasks, including the building of a legal system that promotes a law-governed socialist State of the people, by the people, and for the people.
Party General Secretary To Lam called on the entire foreign affairs sector, including the diplomatic service, to continue playing a pioneering role in creating a peaceful and stable environment, and maximising external resources and favourable conditions to spur national development, particularly to achieve the development goals for 2030 and 2045.
