NA Standing Committee starts seventh session

The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee started its seventh session in Hanoi on January 18, under the chair of NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.

Hanoi (VNA) – The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee started its seventh session in Hanoi on January 18, under the chair of NAChairman Vuong Dinh Hue.

In his opening remarks, Chairman Hue said that during the two-day session, lawmakers are expected to considerand opine on proposals related to the draft revised Law onEmulation and Commendation. The draft law was discussed at the 15th legislature’ssecond plenary session.

He asked deputies to focus discussion on controversialissues of the bill to submit it to the NA’s third plenum, scheduled to takeplace in May.

Lawmakers will also scrutinise the NA’s draft resolution onpiloting the model of labour organisation, career counseling, and vocationaltraining for detainees outside prisons as part of the 2022 law and ordinancebuilding programme.
They will also decide on the implementation of the jury’strial attire and comment on additions to theforeign capital investment plan from the unallocated capital, as well as adjustmentsto the medium-term public investment plan for 2021-2025.

The committee will discuss a report on the NA’shearing of people’s feedback in December last year and comment on the outcomesof the NA's first extraordinary sitting, among other matters.

After the opening ceremony, under the chair of Standing NAVice Chairman Tran Thanh Man, deputies exchanged views on the draft revised Lawon Emulation and Commendation.

Man requested the NA Committee on Social Affairs to collectand field deputies’ ideas, and step up coordination in discussion between thedrafting agency, the verification agency, the NA Committee on Legal Affairs,the NA Committee on Judicial Affairs, the Office of the National Assembly, the NADeputies Committee and the Legislative Research Institute./.
