NA Standing Committee to convene 48th session from August 11–13

The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee is scheduled to convene its 48th session on August 11-13, with August 14-15 set as a backup date, according to the NA Office.

Hanoi (VNA)ꦉ – The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee is scheduled to convene its 48th session on August 11-13, with August 14-15 set as a backup date, according to the NA Office.

During the session, the committee will give opinions on the explanation, reception, and revision of the draft Law on the State of Emergency; four draft laws, namely the Law on Extradition, the Law on the Sentenced Persons, the Law on Mutual Legal Assistance in Civil Matters, and the Law on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters; as well as the draft Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Oversight Activities of the National Assembly and People’s Councils. It will also review and comment on the draft Law on Enforcement of Temporary Detention, Custody and Prohibition from Leaving a Place of Residence; the revised Law on Execution of Criminal Judgments; the revised Law on Execution of Civil Judgments; the draft Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Education; the revised Law on Higher Education; the revised Law on Vocational Education; the revised Law on Drug Prevention and Control; and mechanisms and policies for investment in the construction of Gia Binh International Airport.
The Standing Committee will consider and adopt a resolution on the implementation of democracy within the internal operations of the agencies of the NA and the People’s Councils; a resolution listing tasks, activities, and cost norms for each task and activity related to the appraisal and approval of legal normative documents and the appraisal, ratification, and decision-making on the accession to international treaties and organisations; and a resolution on the number of regional State Audit offices under the State Audit Office of Vietnam.
Regarding oversight activities, the committee will review the NA’s July 2025 report on public petitions and the report of the thematic supervision delegation on the implementation of policies and laws on the development and use of human resources to meet the requirements of socio-economic development, especially high-quality human resources. The session will also give opinions on the draft NA resolution on the use of local budgets to support costs for projects invested in Vietnam by the Samsung Group./.
