Punctuality rate of airlines hits 89.4 percent in October

Domestic Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, Jetstar Pacific and Vasco in October together operated 18,392 flights on time, accounting for 89.4 percent of the total flights, according to the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV).

Hanoi (VNA) – DomesticVietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, Jetstar Pacific and Vasco in October togetheroperated 18,392 flights on time, accounting for 89.4 percent of the totalflights, according to the Civil Aviation Administrationof Vietnam (CAAV).

National fla⛄g carrier,Vietnam Airlines, recorded a punctuality rate of 90.1 percent, or 9,141flights, while the rate of low-cost Vietjet Air was 88.6 per♍cent, or 6,559flights, in the month.

The on-time performance record of JetstarPacific was 84.9 percent and Vasco’s were 98.9 percent.

The main cause ꦍof delaysand cancellations was faults on the side of the airlines and late return ofplanes. Other reasons included airports’ limited infrastructure andservices, flight management and operation, weather and technical issues, CAAVsaid.

According to a new regulation issued by theMinistry of Transport which took effect on November 1, airlines must provideinformation on the status of the flight to the airport authority andenterprises that provide services on the delay or cancellation of the trip. In case of delay, an interruption of 15 minutesor more of the flight schedule, the carriers have to inform the passengers,explain the reason, inform them about the expected takeoff time and apologisethe passengers. Drinks, meal and accommodation should beprovided for the passengers if the flight delay is for more than two hours,three hours and six hours, respectively. For flights that are delayed for more than sixhours beginning from 10pm to 7am the following day, accommodation oralternative arrangements must be arranged with the consent of the passengers.-VNA
