Quang Tri (VNA)🧸 – The Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team 1 (EOD1) of PeaceTrees Vietnam has successfully detonated a 227kg MK-82 bomb at the Vietnam–Laos border area.
The operation, involving the safe destruction by burning, took place near border marker 607 in Lia commune, Vietnam's Quang Tri province, the provincial Department of Foreign Affairs said on August 14.

Upon receiving the report from Quang Tri’s Mine Action Centre, EOD1 surveyed the site and coordinated with the Thanh Border Guard Station, the Department of Foreign Affairs, the provincial Military Command, local defence units, and other agencies to plan the disposal.
According to PeaceTrees Vietnam technical experts, the burning method allows explosives to combust slowly, minimising noise and vibration while protecting nearby property and infrastructure.
On August 13, after nearly an hour of work, the team safely destroyed the bomb, removing a major threat to local residents. During the process, residents were evacuated from the danger zone./.
