Reference exchange rate continues to go up

Hanoi (VNA) – The daily reference exchange rate for May 17 wentup another 16 VND to 22,584 VND per USD.

This is the second consecutive day the State Bank of Vietnam adjustedthe daily reference exchange up.

With the current trading band of  +/- 3 percent, the ceiling rate appliedto commercial banks during the day is 23,261 VND/USD and the floor rate 21,907VND/USD.

The opening hour rates listed at commercial banks continued to stayunchanged from the previous day.

Vietcombank and BIDV kept their buying rate at 22,735 VND/USD and theselling rate at 22,805 VND/USD.

Techcombank maintained the buying rate at 22,715 VND/USD and the sellingrate at 22,815 VND/USD.

This week the daily reference exchange rate went down for the first two daysbut the trend was reversed on Wednesday and Thursday.

However, commercial banks kept their rates unchanged from the beginningof the week. -VNA
