RoK to send fire engines to Vietnam

The Republic of Korea (RoK) will provide Vietnam with 9 used fire engines, announced the RoK’s Ministry of Public Safety and Security (MPSS) on May 15.

Seoul (VNA)꧅ – The Republic of Korea (RoK) will provide Vietnam with 9 used fire engines, announced the RoK’s Ministry of Public Safety and Security (MPSS) on May 15.

The move is part of a RoK aid programme to send 16 used firefighting trucks, water tankers and ambulances to developing countries this year.
Aside from Vietnam, the other countries to receive equipment are Cambodia, the Philippines, Mongolia and Laos.
The MPSS will spend 77,600 USD to repair the vehicles as well as provide accompanying equipment and personnel training. The RoK has sent fire engines to developing countries since 2005, with 166 having been shipped to 11 countries so far.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
