Tam Dao honoured as world’s leading town destination 2022
The People’s Committees of northern Vinh Phuc province and Tam Dao district held a ceremony on December 2 to announce the award honouring Tam Dao as the world’s leading town destination in 2022.

The title was previously announced at the 29th World TravelAwards held in Oman in November this year.
Addressing the event, Vice Chairman of theprovincial People’s Committee Vu Viet Van said the award is a recognition of the initialsuccess of the district’s tourism sector, helping to improve the position and value ofthe Tam Dao National Tourist Area, and promoting the development of the tourismindustry in Vinh Phuc province.
The Tam Dao national tourism site is located on Tam Dao mountain range, at analtitude of 54 to 1,100 metres above sea level. It boasts majestic mountainousscenery that covers a vast area of the northern delta.
𓄧 In Tam Dao, thereare three mountains, Thach Ban (1,388m), Thien Thi (1,375m), and Phu Nghia(1,400m), rising above the sea of clouds like three islands. That is the sourceof the Vietnamese name “Tam Dao,” meaning “three islands.”

Thanks to its cool climate, the town has long been one of themost attractive destinations in northern Vietnam among both domestic andforeign visitors, especially for a summer vacation.

To get the award, TamDao overcame many town destinationsin the US, Japan, the Czech Republic, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Nepal, and NewZealand.
Theannual awards are based on votes cast by travel industry professionals and thepublic.

The northern province of Vinh Phuc attracted 32 domestic investment projects with 16.4 trillion VND (723.3 million USD) in total capital and 54 foreign-invested ones worth totaling 994 million USD as of October 2021, up 110.2 percent and 122.7 percent year-on-year, respectively.

By source market, China continued to lead with 3.1 million visitors, equivalent to 25.5% of all foreign arrivals. The Republic of Korea followed with 2.5 million, or 20.7%. Other major markets included Taiwan (China) with 737,000, the US with 522,000, and Japan with 380,000.
