Theoretical Council convenes seventh meeting

Hanoi (VNA) – The Theoretical Councilof the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee, the 2016-2021 tenure,convened its seventh meeting in Hanoi on August 10.

The session focused its discussion on a draftadvisory report on the theoretical and practical issues of the Vietnam seastrategy.

Participants also gave feedback on a draftreport on the council’s performance in the first six months of 2018 and workingplans for the remainder of the year.

Nguyen Xuan Thang, Secretary of the CPV CentralCommittee and Chairman of the council, said the report highlighted thecouncil’s achievements and shortcomings in January-June.

It also defines nine tasks and four solutions toimprove the council’s performance in the second half of the year, he added.

The official suggested collecting opinionsraised at the event to complete and improve the quality of the reports forsubmission to the upcoming eighth meeting of the 12th CPV CentralCommittee.-VNA

Vietnam, Ecuador boost ties across trade, technology, and♊ educa♒tion

Death penalty for e🌜ight criminal offenses lifted

The new law abolishes the death penalty for eight criminal offenses: the crime aimed at overthrowing the people’s government; the crime of sabotaging state infrastructure and technical facilities; the crime of producing and trading counterfeit medicines for treatment and prevention; the crime of destroying peace and causing aggressive war; the crime of espionage; that of illegally transporting narcotics; embezzlement; and bribe taking.
