Vietnam beats Singapore, takes Sudirman Cup’s Group 2

Vietnam defeated Singapore to win gold in Group 2 of the Sudirman Cup, also known as the World Badminton Team Championships, in Australia on May 26.

Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam defeatedSingapore to win gold in Group 2 of the Sudirman Cup, also known as the WorldBadminton Team Championships, in Australia on May 26.

After winningGroup 2A, Vietnam beat Singapore, winner of Group 2B, 3-1 at the GoldCoast’s Carrara Sports & Leisure Centre .

The Vietnameseplayers won in the men’s and women’s singles matches, represented by husbandand wife Nguyen Tien Minh and Vu Thi Trang.

Their teammatestriumphed in the mixed doubles, when Do Tuan Duc and Pham Nhu Thao beat DannyBawa Chrisnanta and Wong Jia Ying Crystal 21-18, 23-21.

Earlier, Vietnamwon all three matches in Group 2A, beating New Zealand, Canada and Scotland.
