Hanoi (VNA) - Vietn𒈔am defeated China’s Hong Kong 5-0 in the final Group D match of the Women’s Asian Football Confederation U-16 Qualifier in the Vietnam Youth Football Training Centre in Hanoi on September 3.

With this win, Vietnam ranked second out of six teams with 12 points, but the team missed their opportunity for a slot to compete in the event’s final round, as only the top team have the right to move forward.
In other matches, Palestine bested Iraq 1-0, while Australia crushed Uzbekistan 9-1 to top the rankings with 15 points and earned a ticket to the finals. The Asian Football Confederation U16 Women’s Championship 2017 qualification campaign kicked off on August 25 in Hanoi. There are 24 teams divided into four groups taking part.
The winner from each group will qualify to for finals. The top four teams from the last edition, the Democratic People Republic of Korea (DPRK), Japan, China and Thailand, have directly qualified for the finals. Vietnam is in Pool D with Iraq, Palestine, Australia, Uzbekistan and Hong Kong.-VNA
