Vietnam, Laos step up cooperation in military medicine

The first scientific symposium between the Vietnam Military Medical University and the Laos Military Medical University took place in Vientiane, Laos, on July 18.

Vientiane (VNA) – The first scientific symposiumbetween the Vietnam Military Medical University and the Laos Military MedicalUniversity took place in Vientiane, Laos, on July 18.

Addressing the event, deputy head of the General LogisticsDepartment of the Laos People’s Army Maj. Gen. Khampheth Sisanon said that the functionhelped to update science-related knowledge for lecturers of the universities,offering them a chance to share their experiences in scientific research inorder to help train young scientists to better serve healthcare, treatment, anddiagnosis for military officers.

He took the occasion to thank the Vietnamese Party, State,and people for their support to their Lao counterparts.

Director of the Vietnam Military Medical University Maj.Gen. Do Quyet spoke highly of the ongoing cooperation between the twouniversities, affirming that the event was of particular significance as ithelped strengthen ties and intensify bilateral scientific collaboration.

On this occasion, the two universities signed a cooperationplan for the 2018-2019 period, in which the Vietnam Military Medical Universitywill maintain support for the Lao side in several fields such as trainingpostgraduates, sharing experiences in managing students, and controllingeducation and training quality.

It will continue providing equipment and textbooks to servetraining works for the Lao side as well as coordinate in building scientificresearch projects in the military medical-pharmaceutical field. -VNA
