Vietnam, Russia boost collaboration in legal affairs

Moscow (VNA) – Vietnamese Ambassador to RussiaDang Minh Khoi received a delegation from the Association of Lawyers of Russialed by its Chairman Sergey Stepashin on March 29.
Khoi spoke highly of the cooperation between Vietnam and Russiain general, and their associations of lawyers in particular, includingcollaboration prospects in lawyer training.
He expressed his hope that the associations will continueboosting cooperation, and stepping up experience sharing and delegationexchanges.
Sergey Stepashin proposed organising visits, and jointevents, seminars and talks on international law issues.
They agreed to try promoting exchanges andcooperation between the two sides’ law training institutions, and implementcooperation directions in accordance with the Strategic Partnership Agreementsigned between the Vietnam Lawyers’ Association and the Association of Lawyersof Russia.
The two associations established their cooperativerelationship in 2011, becoming each other's first foreign partner. Since then, theyhave actively cooperated bilaterally and supported each other at multilateralforums.
Russia hopes to step up cooperation with Vietnamese localities, with Ho Chi Minh City being the top priority, Russian Consul General in HCM City Sadykov Timur Sirozhevich told Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen during their meeting on March 14.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov discussed the conflict in Ukraine in a candid and constructive manner during a phone talk on March 15.
The Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) under the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs organised the first ever Vietnamese language interpretation contest on March 19.

Highlighting the transformative potential of the draft law in revitalising Vietnam’s railway industry, Hoang Van Cuong, a deputy of Hanoi, expressed his support for Article 39, which empowers the Prime Minister to issue a list of railway-related goods and services to be assigned or ordered from domestic enterprises for production.
