Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese singer Duc Phuc will be among 23 artists from 23 countries participating in Intervision 2025, an international music competition often described as the “Eurovision of Eurasia", in Russia.

Composer Trong Dai, also from Vietnam, will serve as a member of the competition’s jury.

According to the draw held on September 12, Duc Phuc will perform 20th with the song Phu Dong Thien Vuong, which tells the story of Saint Giong, a mythical folk hero of Vietnam and one of the four immortals in the nation’s spiritual tradition. The work is noted for its strong Vietnamese cultural identity.

The first five performers will be Zulema Iglesias Salazar (Cuba), Nomad trio (Kyrgyzstan), Wang Xi (China), Mustafa Saad (Egypt), and Brandon Howard (the US). Russia’s representative, singer Shaman, is scheduled to perform ninth with the song Right in the Heart.

Ahead of the contest, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov underscored that Intervision is “a festival of music and a platform for dialogue between civilisations,” contributing to the enrichment of national traditions and identities.

He further stated that one of the contest’s goals is to showcase global diversity through music – “the universal language that needs no translation.”

The winner will be the contestant receiving the highest score from the jury through secret ballot, earning the Intervision crystal trophy and a prize of 30 million RUB (nearly 360,000 USD). All participating artists will receive certificates from the organising board.

ꦿ Intervision 2025 is expected to serve as an international forum where musical traditions – from Eastern Europe to Latin America – converge, fostering cultural bridges and enhancing mutual understanding and cooperation among nations, according to the board./.
