Vietnam’s women win silver at Asian team chess championship

The Vietnamese women’s team won a silver medal at the 2018 Asian Team Chess Championship held in Iran from July 26 to August 4.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnamese women’steam won a silver medal at the 2018 Asian Team Chess Championship held in Iran fromJuly 26 to August 4.

Despite losing to Chinain the very first match, the team improved their performance when competing againstUzbekistan, India and Kazakhstan.

Grandmasters Pham LeThao Nguyen and Nguyen Thi Mai Hung got 4.5 points and 5 points, respectively,helping the team gain 11 points after 7 rounds to get the silver.

Meanwhile, the Vietnamesemen’s team only ranked 10th among 14 participating teams.-VNA
