World-class cruise liner makes first visit to Vietnam

Quantum ofthe Seas is owned by the world’s leading cruise company Royal CaribbeanInternational, based in the US. The ship is designed to the samestandard as a five-star hotel with a gross tonnage of 168,666 tonnes androoms for 4,905 guests and 1,500 crew members.

The 18-deck ship is considered one of the most modern and luxurious liners in the world.

Vietnam is one of the destinations on its 53-day voyage, starting fromNew Jersey Port in the USA and travelling through several European andAsian countries to reach China’s Shanghai city before retracing theroute in reverse.

During their one-day stay in Vietnam, passengers visited Ba Ria-Vung Tau and neighbouring Ho Chi Minh City.

Captain Srecko Ban told reporters that he was pleased to have broughtthe ship and its passengers to Vietnam, particularly Ho Chi Minh City –an attractive and interesting destination. This was also a chance forthe ship owners to seek cooperation opportunities with Vietnamesecompanies and localities.

Vietnam’s Saigontourist has been Royal Caribbean International’s official tourism partner since 2013.

The US group also took this occasion to meet with officials fromvarious coastal provinces, such as Thua Thien-Hue, Khanh Hoa and KienGiang, with a view to boosting cooperation on seaport infrastructureimprovements in order to be able to service the firm’s large cruiseships in the future.-VNA
