Havana (VNA) - The August Revolution in 1945 is a military epic written by the Vietnamese people, representing one of the greatest victories of the era and proving to the world that a united nation can never be defeated, according to journalist Roberto Molina of Cuba’s Prensa Latina news agency.
In an interview with the Vietnam News Agency’s correspondent in Cuba on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945–2025) and National Day (September 2, 1945) of Vietnam, the journalist expressed his admiration for a nation with a millennia-old history, marked by the struggles of its people for independence and freedom after centuries of resisting foreign invasions, from Japanese fascists and French colonialists to American imperialists.
Vietnam’s victories became an enduring source of inspiration for later independence movements across Asia, Africa, and Latin America, he assessed.
According to Roberto Molina, national unity - the cornerstone of Vietnam’s strategy against colonialism and foreign invaders - has been the true “architect” behind the remarkable progress witnessed today: lifting an entire nation out of poverty and reaching heights that, just a few decades ago, were unimaginable.
Achievements in food production and exports, technological advancement, industrial growth, comprehensive development of modern infrastructure, and the promotion of cultural, artistic, and architectural values have all contributed to solidifying Vietnam’s position, not only within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), but also in various international organisations and on the global stage.
🌊 All of this has been made possible thanks to the wisdom, intelligence, and steadfast leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, through generations of leaders, every Party member and official, and most importantly, the unity and unwavering loyalty of the people to the life and legacy of the great President Ho Chi Minh, he added./.
The August Revolution of 1945 was the result of the clear-sighted leadership of the Indochinese Communist Party and leader Nguyen Ai Quoc – Ho Chi Minh, as well as the unity, determination and sacrifices of the Vietnamese people. It opened a new chapter in the nation’s history: “National independence associated with socialism”, a resounding victory of historical and global significance in the 20th century.
Over the past 79 years, it has become evident that the success of the August Revolution in 1945 was due to the wise leadership of the Indochinese Communist Party and its leader, Nguyen Ai Quoc (later Ho Chi Minh). It was also a result of the unity, solidarity, and relentless efforts of the Vietnamese people in overcoming challenges, hardships, and sacrifices. The revolution's success marked a new chapter in Vietnamese history, setting the nation on a path of "national independence closely linked with socialism."
The successful August Revolution in 1945 was the first great victory of Vietnamese people under the leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, opening a great turning point in the history of the Vietnamese nation. From here, it entered a new era of independence, freedom and socialism.
