Phnom Penh (VNA) – Cambodia’s Royal Ploughing Ceremony was held in Kampong Speu province’s Chbar Mon city and presided over by King Norodom Sihamoni.
Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Huy Tang attended the ceremony.
The royal oxen snacked on rice, corn, and beans during the annual festival, implying that farmers will reap bumper harvests of those products.
This is the second year that the ceremony has been held after a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Traditionally, the Royal Ploughing Ceremony was held every year in Veal Men Square, next to the Royal Palace. The ceremony was then moved to the provinces, with Takeo hosting the final royal ceremony in 2019 before the event was interrupted by pandemic outbreak.
On the occasion, King Norodom Sihamoni presented 100 gifts to local farmers, and visited booths displaying agricultural products and achievements and💝 handicrafts, taking ꧋place on May 26-27./.
