Indonesian President Joko Widodo on January 10 expressed his condolences to the families of the passengers and crew members and the Sriwijaya Air over the plane crash off Jakarta’s coast a day earlier.

Hanoi (VNA) - Indonesian President Joko Widodoon January 10 expressed his condolences to the families of the passengers and crew members and theSriwijaya Air over the plane crash off Jakarta’s coast a day earlier.

The President asked the rescue team and the military tocomplete the search for the missing plane as soon as possible and salvage thevictims.

The Boeing 737-500 plane, flying from the capital Jakarta toPontianak city in West Kalimantan province on January 9 afternoon, crashedshortly after takeoff. It was carrying 50 passengers, including seven childrenand three babies, and 12 crew members.

Also on January 10, Indonesian Navy divers found wreckagefrom the plane after locating a signal from the aircraft's fuselage.

As well as debris from the plane, Indonesian police saidthey have received two body bags, one containing personal effects belonging tovictims, and another containing human remains, Jakarta Police spokespersonYusri Yunus said as reported by CNN.

A command post set up ♌at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital inJakarta to identify the crash victims and search for family members was workingto identify the remains, he said./.
