Parliament leader wraps up official visit to RoK

National Assembly (NA) Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan arrived in Hanoi on December 7 evening, concluding an official visit to the Republic of Korea (RoK) at the invitation of Speaker of the RoK’s parliament Moon Hee-sang.

Hanoi (VNA) – National Assembly (NA) ChairwomanNguyen Thi Kim Ngan arrived in Hanoi on December 7 evening, concluding her official visit to the Republic of Korea (RoK) at the invitation of Speaker of the RoK’s parliament Moon Hee-sang.

At the talks and meetings between the two sides, RoK leadersexpressed their belief that the trip would continue giving a boost to the twoparliaments’ relations and greatly helping with the extensive development ofthe countries’ strategic cooperative partnership.

Both sides stressed the need to maintain exchangesbetween the two countries' senior leaders and create favourable conditions for enhancingcooperation between Vietnamese and Rorean sectors and localities, thus helpingstrengthen mutual understanding and political trust to further developbilateral ties.

The trip also affirmed Vietnam’s support for the RoK’s NewSouthern Policy.

During the trip from December 4 to 7, Chairwoman Ngan visitedBusan city, received Honorary Consul General ofVietnam in Busan-Gyeongnam region Park Soo-kwan and Busan Mayor OhKeo-don, and met representatives of Vietnam-RoK families.

She was granted with anHonorary Doctorate Degree of Politics by the Pukyong NationalUniversity and also talked to Vietnamese students there.

In Seoul capital city, thelegislator had talks with Speaker of the RoK’s NA Moon Hee-sang and a meeting withRoK President Moon Jae-in. She met with staff of the Vietnamese Embassy,representatives of the Vietnamese community and intellectuals in the country.

She and the RoK’s NA Speakeralso attended an investment and trade forum between the two countries.Vietnam's budget airline Vietjet launched an air route linking Phu Quoc Island ofVietnam with Seoul at this event.

On this occasion, ChairwomanNgan received representatives of the Ly families and presented the FrienshipOrder to Professor Ahn Kyong-hwan – Chairman of the Association ofVietnamese Studies in the RoK.

She also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding on an action plan for raising bilateraltrade to 100 billion USD in a balanced manner by 2020 between VietnameseMinister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh and Korean Minister of Trade,Industry and Energy Sung Yunmo.-VNA
