MinisterPrasert Boonchaisuk presided over the signing of a Memorandum ofUnderstanding (MoU) between the ministry’s Department of IndustrialPromotion and Japan ’s Saitama Prefecture to stimulate exchangesof industrial technologies and business knowledge between the twocountries.
The MoU is expected to encourage Japanese SMEsto expand their production in Thailand , particularly in fields ofelectronics parts and health products. At the same time, more Thai SMEswill be encouraged to invest in Saitama Prefecture as well,especially in processed food and textile industries where they boastexpertise.
It sets out a three-point cooperation frameworkincluding promoting cooperation between SMEs of the two nations,promoting their partnership in expanding their production facilities on aglobal scale, promoting exchange of industrial information and closereconomic relationships between the two countries.
In thefirst nine months of the 2013 fiscal year, Japanese investment inThailand totalled more than 201 billion THB. The figure is predictedto rise to 300 billion THB by the end of the fiscal year, which is stilllower than the previous year’s record of 370 billion THB.-VNA
It aims to identify and honour digital technology initiatives, products, and solutions with practical applications; promote creativity in technology development; anticipate trends and development potential in digital technology; and recognise the role of digital technology in economic growth and enhancing quality of life for citizens in ASEAN countries.
