Thailand will push forward a cooperation framework between Mekong sub-region and Japan in a summit next week.

Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - Thailand will push forward acooperation framework between Mekong sub-region and Japan in a summit nextweek. 

Director-General of the Thai Department of InternationalEconomic Affairs (DIEA) Nikorndech Parangkul revealed Prime Minister PrayutChan-o-cha will attend the 10th Mekong-Japan Summit in Japan during October 8-9. 

Leaders from countries in the Mekong sub-region and Japanwill attend the summit to discuss cooperation in economy, society, and culture,aiming to reduce gaps among them. 

Thailand will cooperate with Japan on development projects inthe Mekong sub-region, by allowing Japan to take part in connectivitydevelopment plans, the strengthening of ASEAN Community, and the development ofhuman resources. 

Japan has clearly expressed intention to help withinfrastructure development, connectivity development, logistics, and servicesector development projects. The Japan - Mekong framework has proven to be anup-to-date and effective cooperation, he said.-NNT/VNA
