Japan is one of Vietnam’s leading strategic partners and the Vietnamese Government always pays attention to enhancing cooperation between the two countries’ localities, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has said. At a reception for Hodo Nakamura, Governor of Japan’s Nagasaki prefecture, in Hanoi on August 31, the Deputy PM said Vietnam considered the local affiliation one of the important factors to advance the country’s relations with Japan in an efficient and pragmatic manner. He highly valued the strong and comprehensive development in the Vietnam-Japan relationship, especially after the two countries elevated their ties to a new level of “Extensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia”.
Stressing Nakasaki prefecture’s strength in tourism and fisheries which are also prioritised fields of Da Nang city and Quang Nam province, both in central Vietnam, Phuc suggested the two sides boost cooperation in these areas. The Vietnamese Government will work harder to improve the country’s investment environment to facilitate the operation of investors, including those from Japan, the official pledged. He voiced his wish that the Governor and other leaders of Nagasaki will pay more attention to cooperation with Vietnam while promoting people-to-people exchange and supporting the Vietnamese nationals in the locality.
Nakamura informed his host that his visit to Vietnam aims to enhance exchange and expand cooperation with Vietnamese localities, particularly Quang Nam province. The Governor said Nagasaki and Quang Nam are scheduled to sign a minutes to establish the framework for collaboration between the two localities on the occasion of his visit.
