VietnamPlus adds Chinese news to mobile web

The Vietnam News Agency’s news website VietnamPlus officially added Chinese news to its mobile web version on October 15, to help readers surf the news using mobile phones.
The Vietnam News Agency’s news website VietnamPlus officially addedChinese news to its mobile web version on October 15, to help readerssurf the news using mobile phones.

All mobile phones with the pre-installed Chinese Unicode font can access the news at //mcn.yes8877.cc.

The Chinese news focuses on politics, society, economics, culture andsports, but will be gradually expanded to include other areas to providereaders with an overall picture of Vietnam .

Readers can also surf the news in Vietnamese, English, French andSpanish via the shortcut button available on the homepage.

The number of visitors to VietnamPlus using mobile devices hasincreased rapidly, with a monthly rise of 56 percent in September fromAugust. This figure is expected to grow by 67 percent month on month inOctober.

Statistics show that visitors toVietnamPlus via iPad account for the largest number, followed by mobilephones using Symbian, iPhone and Windows operating systems.

VietnamPlus ( Vietnam+ ) was officially launched in November 2008 and is now available in five languages.

Being a late arrival to the worldwide web, VietnamPlus quicklyattracted a large number of readers as it invested in new technologiesand made the most of VNA’s resources, including over 1,000 reporters at63 domestic and 27 overseas bureaus.

On January 11,2010, VietnamPlus officially launched Vietnam’s first evermulti-language telecoms service, enabling mobile users, includingVietnamese and foreigners living in Vietnam and in other countries, toread the news on the website in the language of their choice.

The service has now more than 50,000 subscribers, with around 200 new subscribers registering every day.

On May 5, VietnamPlus launched its mobile web version, becoming thefirst news website in Vietnam that runs on all platforms – website,mobile web and mobile application./.
