Vientiane (VNA) 💙– Laos and Cuba held their second political consultation in Vientiane on July 25, co-chaired by Lao Deputy Foreign Minister Malaithong Thammavongsa and Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Gerardo Peñalver Portal.
During the meeting, both sides shared updates on key national developments and exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern. The consultation was hailed as a meaningful step in deepening bilateral friendship and long-term cooperation, as well as enhancing mutual understanding in both bilateral and multilateral frameworks.
The two sides reaffirmed the importance of their traditional partnership, built on decades of solidarity and mutual support between the two Parties, States, and peoples. This enduring relationship continues to grow through frequent high-level visits and collaboration in fields such as healthcare, education, sports, agriculture, culture, and socio-economic development.
Both sides agreed to review and accelerate the implementation of previously signed agreements and high-level commitments. They also pledged to strengthen cooperation in existing sectors while exploring new areas of shared interest, especially in trade and investment, with a focus on mutually supportive and complementary opportunities.
Laos and Cuba expressed their thanks for each other’s longstanding support and reaffirmed their commitment to fostering a closer, more practical, and enduring partnership on both bilateral and multilateral fronts./.
